delivery of the first ship
on june 8, the first ship of the largest 16,000teu new panamax container ship built for mediterranean shipping company s.a.(msc) was delivered by dalian shipbuilding industry co., ltd.(dsic) of china state shipbuilding corporation limited(cssc) .
genji okochi, chairman of mi-das line s.a., and ms. chiyo okochi, the naming guest, attended the ceremony by video, while giuseppe gargiulo, general manager of msc new shipbuilding, lin feng, vice president of cstc, lin jiming, vice president of dsic, and directors of relevant departments attended the ceremony.
this ship is the first ship of 9 16000teu container ships for msc undertaken by dsic, and its performance and economic indexes such as loading capacity, speed, fuel consumption, etc. are all at the international leading level.

the ship has overall length of about 366 meters, beam of 51 meters, depth of 30.2 meters, design draught of 14.5 meters, and structural draught of 17 meters. it can carry 16,520 standard containers and 1,800 reefer containers. the ship has class symbols such as lng-ready, enhanced fire fighting, one-person driving, etc., which maximizes the protection of green energy saving and environmental protection of the ship as well as the safety and economy of operation.

the ship is a conventional fuel vessel, equipped with open and closed dual mode desulfurization system, the main engine and generator are each equipped with an independent scrubber, front and rear double island arrangement, suitable for unlimited navigation area, the main engine is equipped with high pressure scr denitrification and mixed scrubber desulphurization and other green environmental protection systems, to meet the latest regulations and various pollution gas emission standards. it is a full-life cycle green ship that meets energy saving and environmental protection at all stages from design to operation to ship dismantling.
the overall performance of the vessel is excellent, with remarkable energy saving effect, energy efficiency design index eedi is 57% below the baseline, and carbon and drag reduction equipments such as air lubrication system, axle-belt generator, high-efficiency paddle rudder and pre-propeller energy-saving device are installed to fundamentally reduce the fuel consumption and improve the economic efficiency. adopting the new design concept of "safety, economy and environmental protection", the vessel is equipped with an energy efficiency management system, which integrates a number of energy-saving measures suitable for real ship operation, and is highly operable for real operation, maximizing energy efficiency and economy.
during the construction process, the project team and the dockyard department 2 actively did a good job in planning and reasonably optimized the on-site procedures, and achieved all the cargo tank test box delivery and hatch cover installation work in the dock, which greatly improved the integrity of the docking. in the process of sea trial, the sea trial command department combined the technical characteristics of many test items and complex interfaces of closed type desulfurization system, axle generator and air bubble drag reduction system, divided the above test items into grids, and interspersed them into regular sea trial items, thus saving a lot of time for the sea trial, and successfully completing the sea trial items of the three major systems.
